An error derives from an attempt, an experiment, a respect for the random and the unexpected. The error takes us by surprise, shocks and terrifies us.
The error hides in the beginning to attack in the end.
The error destroys a direction to create many.
Opposite to the culture of awarding the probable, the predictable, the “right”, Beetroot’s new and exciting exhibition demonstrates the power that lies in the “right to error”. The error is arguably the most important step in human progress, as only through error can we demonstrate our determination to feel, understand and make it…right…
….until the next error.

Α homage to the city of Thessaloniki inside the pages of today’s BHMAgazino.
Thessaloniki
by Beetroot
People rise
Their glance,high
From our city’s guts
Springs new oxygen

Beetroot designs the cover of this special BHMADECO issue about design and Thessaloniki.
Autumn in Thessaloniki. A rainy day “in conversation” with the (contemporary landmark) “Umbrellas” by George Zongolopoulos. People, color, design, creativity and optimism but also insecurity, distress and melancholy. The city as a framework for the extreme controversies of the present socioeconomic situation. Design as both an agent and a remedy.

The unchallenged mind is imprisoned in the cage of ignorance. Beetroot salutes The Right to Education with their new “poster for tomorrow” that will be exhibited in 31 countries all over the world and was selected amongst the 100 best submissions of the prestigious competition.

Στο σκοτάδι Στο φόβο Σηκώνω τη γροθιά μου Στο φως — In darkness In fear I raise my fist To the light

Can’t see what they were at, all right
Dead cat in a top hat, wow
Sucking on the young man’s blood
Wishing he could come, yeah
Sucking on the soldier’s brain
Wishing it would be the same
Dead cat, dead rat
Can’t you see what they were at?
Fat cat in a top hat
Thinks he’s an aristocrat
Thinks he can kill and slaughter
Thinks he can shoot my daughter
Yeah right! oh yeah!
Oh right! yeeah!
Dead cats, dead rats
Think they’re an aristocrat
Crap, now that’s crap!
Frightening, shocking, strange and unpredictable, the monsters of Greek Mythology are the antiheroes that have inspired authors such as Hesiod, Homer, Plato, Aristophanes, Shakespeare, Wilde and Gide, artists like, Rubens, Goya, Ingres and Picasso and have fascinated countless generations of readers and listeners all around the world.
Here, for the first time, the monsters of Greek Mythology get to tell their story!
The original myths are coupled by the monsters’ own version of their story, all in sharp and witty original verse by Anastasia Tentokali and appropriately translated for the english version by Fanis Skourtis. The brand new book by Mangel-Wurzel book is lavishly designed and illustrated in smart neo-black-figure style colors by Beetroot (red dot Design Agency of the year 2011).

Beetroot designs for LIFO the “thousand drachmas” bank note.
Despite the nostalgia of our former currency, we realize –to alter the words of I. Montanelli- that the return to drachma would be nothing else but the gloomy epilogue of “a nation that never managed to become international”. In the design for our “thousand drachmas” we show key moments in our history, from the more iconic and stereotypical, to the events that leaded to our economic plunge, next to the keys of our new Mercedes sports car.
